Sofidel was the first Italian company to become a member of WWF’s international
Climate Savers programme. The programme encourages companies to reduce their
greenhouse gasses voluntarily through the adoption of innovative strategies and
technologies and to act as leaders in reducing CO2 emissions in a specific sector.
The programme promotes energy efficiency in production processes and in
plants/offices, the use/production of highly efficient products and the use
of renewable sources.
Sofidel is committed to reducing its CO2 emissions by 11% by 2012
and 26% by 2020 compared to its already excellent level in 2007
(which amounted to 531,315 tonnes).
Climate Savers is a concrete demonstration of how companies that
are acting in harmony with nature can take advantage of good
development opportunities. In other words to the company, fighting climate
change means competitiveness and using energy efficiently and carefully.
WWF, in collaboration with research centres, helps groups that adhere to the programme in setting ambitious short to medium term targets and action plans. Each agreement reflects the specificity of the business concerned and the context in which it operates and it is monitored and verified at every stage of the process.
